12:06 pm - The past few days "A gem is not polished without rubbing, nor a man perfected without trials."
Saturday I took a big leap of faith and initially thought I fell on my face, but now I realize I was just learning how to soar.
At 3am on Saturday I decided to fly up to denver to run the 10k bolderboulder and potentially see a girl I know up there that keeps misunderstanding me on the phone do to weird jealousy issues or something, but who I've felt closer to than many girls I've dated for months.. she's the kind of girl that really takes time to get to know you, who you were, who you are, and who you are becoming... she focuses on the things that matter in life, which I really liked. My best friend suggested it, said it was stupid to even think about her as more than a friend until I see her and to just fly up there. So I went for it.
I bought a plane ticket without consulting her and she freaked out and told me never to contact her again, must think I'm some kind of stalker or something. Didn't phase me one bit, I know who I am. But it did have me thinking maybe my friends were right, that she really just wanted me to buy her stuff, and wasn't really interested in me in the first place, which kind of sucks because I had been turning down other girls that were genuinely interested in me.
In any case, Boulder is an awesome city! I think one of my couchsurfing hosts may have stole my camera, or I may have left it there, because I can't find it anywhere =( This is really sad because I had a lot of great pictures, specifically took ones of some waterfalls and rivers I _really_ wanted. And all the new friends I made in Boulder... and Carrie's amazing lab/pit mix Dobro, such a friendly dog that chews on you quite playfully if you let him.
The race was CROWDED! I was in front of the wave I was in so my first mile was great, but later people were very clumped in the streets, and just sticking behind the pace of the person in front of you seemed to be the way to go. Checkout my timing here. And there's a good review and some videos at the end on this page - beware the really energetic guy, though give it time, he goes through all the fun stuff on the course. The second vid has a clip of 'the green man' a guy in all green - I was behind him much of the race. The slip n slide was somethiing I hadn't seen I wonder if the rock and roll marathon has any of those I didn't catch last year =p Someone apparently hoola hooped the entire 10k. I wonder what the distance record is for backhandsprings or something crazy like that.. how awesome would it be to do an entire 5k with backhandsprings! Might have to get special gloves to protect your wrists.. hmm.

Shopping on pearl street was great! I found so much stuff I wanted in my room, but was determined to find a gift for my mom, which I did.
Was originally flying back tuesday night, but went on standby wed morning instead because I wanted to checkout the colorado athletic training school's adult gymnastics class. Amazing. Their coach was excellent and I got my arabians going pretty strongly, and quite comfortable with backhandsprings again on the floor. Not pulling into whips or backtucks from them yet, though. They have a huge rock climbing area and a trampoline next to it so u can jump and hang. Very glad I stuck around to meet all those people, but was sad to leave knowing I would probably not ever be coming back there.
I got a ride from one of the gymnasts who also had a cute puppy waiting in her car back to Carrie's house, charged my phone and hung out with them for a bit, then took off to meet my new couchsurfing hosts for the night. They took me to this hole in the wall bar that was very enjoyable, great for conversation and I ordered a 14'' pizza from cosmos next door that I ate entirely by myself, since they had already had dinner. Then crashed at a place where I sang hungarian children songs and talked about professional level magic the gathering play. Definitely hanging out with this guy when I come stay in boulder for snowboarding in the winter. "Raine", quite an interesting guy. So many people in boulder with hippy names btw, I have never met so many hippies in one place before in my life. Even really successful professional type hippies!
About to take off for sailing tonight at MBYC's thursday night race, then off to gymnastics, and back home for a few more hours of coding before sleeping. Final thoughts - running events regularly is a lot like having theme parties or Halloween parties. I love it!! Really looking forward to the marathon on Sunday!
Btw - Must see AWESOME video of Damien Walters. This is what most of the ppl in the gym I go to aspire to.
from a friend: "nothing lasts forever, so live it up, avoid bullshit, take chances, and never have regrets, because at one point everything you did was exactly what you wanted"

Excellent message. Your friend's quote is good, too.
